1369. Maj. Daniel Varnum (Hannah Mitchell , Martha Bradley , Joseph Bradley , Daniell , Danyell ) was born on 22 Feb 1762 in Dracut, Massachusetts, USA. He died on 31 Dec 1822 in Dracut, Massachusetts, USA.

His brother Major General Joseph Bradley Varnum gave him the title of Major while serving on his staff after the Revolutionary War. In 1785, his father gave him 128 acres in Dracut and "1/2 my dwelling house divided by the middle of the chimney, with land thereon the said house stands" - the other half having been conveyed to Joseph Bradley Varnum. The orignal house was destroyed by fire shortly afterwards and the new house was still standing in 1906 on the river raod to Lawrence - "one of the best specimens of country or farm mansions of that date in Dracut". Joseph Bradley had previously a dwelling across the road. In 1809-1811, he represented the town in the legislature of Massachusetts and held many Dracut town offices.

Daniel married (1) Persis Hale on 3 Mar 1789. Persis was born about 1766. She died on 12 Dec 1796.
